News & Updates - California Business Roundtable Endorses Budget Reform Measure

The California Business Roundtable announces its endorsement of the Government Performance and Accountability Act (GPAA) upon the announcement of its qualification on the November 2012 ballot.

“Without serious budget reform, California risks systemic failure of government’s most fundamental services,” said Rob Lapsley, president of the California Business Roundtable.

“The budget processes over the last several days is the clearest illustration that our state needs more transparency, accountability and performance measures. Government transparency is important for every aspect of the services California needs to start moving forward again – from schools to public safety. We need these accountability reforms to instill confidence in government, to bring jobs back and to re-build our economy. The legislature has been unable to accomplish these reforms, so it’s appropriate to turn to the initiative process for citizens to reform the broken budget system themselves.”

“We strongly endorse and will support the Government Performance and Accountability Act and will assist in ensuring its passage in November,” said Lapsley.
