Guiding Principles for Advancing Equality and Justice

The California Business Roundtable shares an unwavering commitment to equality and justice for all, zero tolerance for racism, bigotry and hate of any kind – and we stand against all violence.

Principle 1:  We will dedicate organizational resources to understanding the root causes of systematic racism, conscious and unconscious bias – and will take action to address them.

Principle 2:  We share a commitment to raising our collective awareness of the lived experiences and obstacles people of color face in the nation and in our state. We do this by listening, learning and sharing resources within the business community.

Principle 3:  We expect our conversations will, at times, be uncomfortable and we embrace the opportunity for growth and change, both as individuals and as an organization.

Principle 4:  We believe, now more than ever, that our collective efforts to provide opportunities for Black and African American, Hispanic and Latino communities in our hiring, recruitment, retention and supplier diversity practices is imperative and measurable; we expect to hold each other accountable as we evaluate and enhance these efforts.

Principle 5:  We will invest in and strongly support investment in sustainable, long-term community efforts which truly bring about equity for all Californians. We will also strive to measure and evaluate the success of our investments and share best practices.
