News & Updates - California Business Roundtable Statement in Response to the Signing of Pension Reform Legislation
Sacramento, CA — The California Business Roundtable issued the following statement today in response to the signing of the pension reform legislation (Assembly Bill 340) by Governor Jerry Brown:
“The California Business Roundtable commends the Governor for his commitment to address critically needed pension reform in California,” said Rob Lapsley, president of the Business Roundtable. “It is clear that this proposal will end some of the past abusive practices and provide a solid step forward in restoring stability in California’s pension system.”
“This legislation paves the way for the additional reforms necessary to help solve the state’s ongoing fiscal crisis but much more remains to be done. The Roundtable and the business community stand ready to work with the Governor and others on a statewide initiative to make this happen,” said Lapsley.
