News & Updates - CBRT Issues Statement in Response to Proponents of Yet Another Deeply Flawed Rent Control Measure Turning In Signatures

December 5, 2019

SACRAMENTO—Rob Lapsley, president of the California Business Roundtable, issued the following statement in response to proponents of a deeply flawed statewide rent control initiative turning in signatures to qualify for the November 2020 ballot:

“One of the greatest accomplishments of the Legislature and governor this year was the passage of AB 1482. CBRT supported this bill, which provides the strongest tenant protections in the nation while also stimulating new affordable-housing construction that we desperately need.

“This initiative is flawed, deceptive and totally unnecessary. We are working hard to ensure voters will once again strongly reject this measure as they did in 2018.”
