Membership Policy

  1. Membership in the California Business Roundtable is limited to principal officers and senior executives of the leading companies, both foreign and domestic, doing business in the state.
    1. Principal officers of California and non-California based companies are normally eligible for membership if they have substantial operations in the state. Principal officers of comparable privately-held companies headquartered in the state are also eligible.
    2. Senior California officers of companies based outside the state are normally eligible for membership if their company (1) is included in Fortune Magazine's list of the 500 largest industrials and non-industrials in the U.S. and (2) has 2,000 or more employees in California. Senior California officers of comparable companies headquartered abroad are also eligible.
    3. In order to realize the full potential of California's increasingly diverse business leadership, outstanding business leaders whose companies would not otherwise qualify may eligible.
  2. A member is usually the chief executive officer or senior officer in California of their company.  However, another principle officer may serve as the company's member if appropriate.  Each member has one deputy, usually the government relations or corporate communications contact for the company.
  3. Top elected officers and staff persons of the state's major business-supported associations are ex-officio members and deputies respectively.
  4. All requests for membership are reviewed by the executive committee.
